Guru Girls Yoga Program
Guru Girls Yoga is a Yoga and Life Skills program designed to increase Adolescent Girls' self-confidence and resilience through the power of the mind-body connection. Guru Girls Yoga is based in Charlotte, NC and the programs take place at various schools in the area.
Guru Girls Yoga Program Founder
Margot Brinley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, 200 hr. RYT and Grounded Kids Yoga instructor. With 25 years of experience as a therapist and more recently as a Yoga Instructor, Margot has supported children ages 5-18 as well as their families.
Margot’s goal is to support and encourage people to treat themselves and others with respect and kindness creating families, communities and, ultimately, a world filled with meaningful connections, positive relationships and peace.
Margot contributes to this vision by creating and facilitating Guru Girls Yoga, a Life Skills/Yoga Program for adolescent girls. The program is curriculum based and designed to empower adolescent girls to honor their unique gifts in order to be their best selves. When developing the curriculum, Margot incorporated elements gathered from these areas:
Understanding of the developmental stages of adolescence
Training as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Experiences in the mental health field working with adolescent girls
Personal commitment to positive mental and physical health
Margot is married with 3 children, and is actively involved in her children’s school and activities. Margot was a collegiate Field Hockey Player who has coached Field Hockey, Soccer and Girls on the Run. Margot currently works as a counselor at Providence Day School. She enjoys training for long-distance races with her husband and friends (most recently the Blue Ridge Relay, Chicago and Boston Marathon). Margot enjoys attending her favorite yoga classes and hiking with her family.
